Play by the Book Game
An interactive comprehension game using ANY work of fiction! Get students talking and learning about literature with the only literature-based board game where students read any fiction work and then develop their reading comprehension skills by discussing it. Game play begins by all players reading the same chapter (or short story) in any fiction book. Readers then travel along the game board path through four regions, each representing a different genre and inhabited by familiar fiction characters.
The object of the game is to reach THE END by correctly answering literature comprehension questions about that chapter, and confirming or disproving other players' answers with facts from the story. Grades 3 and up. Designed by a practicing reading specialist, Play by the Book is available in two versions, a center game suitable for small groups (2 to 4 players) and a giant class game for large group and whole class play! Includes: 20" x 20" game board, 100 game cards (2 difficulty levels), 2 dice, 4 game markers, guide, reproducible for making custom game cards
