FRIENDSHIP DAY FUN!
Friendship Day is August 1st!
Congress sanctioned National Friendship Day in 1935 as a special day to honor and celebrate friendships.
Friends are a very precious gift. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their heart to us. Show your friends how much you care by sending them a Friendship Day postcard!

Friendship Day poem:
Good friends are so nice to have
When we work and play.
Good friends are awfully kind.
They help along the way.
Good friends say "Hello" or "Hi"
When they meet each day.
Good friends can take your coat
Or put your boots away
Good friends like to help with blocks
When you have too many.
Good friends share their crayons too,
When you don't have any.
Good friends help clean up a mess
That's spilled upon the floor.
Good friends like to let you in
When you are at the door.
Good friends play a game of catch,
Or make a jump rope turn.
Good friends show you how to play
If you want to learn.
Good friends say "Thanks for your help"
And say "I'm sorry" too.
Good friends say, "I'm so glad
To have a friend like you!"
Friendship Day conversations:
Talk about the importance of friends. Do you think that their friends should do everything that you want them to do? Do you think that your friends should always like the same things that you like? Talk about the things you like to do. Some examples might be: coloring, playing with blocks, games or different sports. Are these the same things or are they different than what your friends like to do?
